ThermHex Waben GmbH, an EconCore licensee, has opened a new industrial production line in Halle (Saale), Central Germany. ThermHex offers a complete range of polypropylene honeycomb core products with core thickness starting from 3 mm and cell sizes varying between 3 to 9 mm. This new type of sandwich material is produced from a single polypropylene film in a continuous thermoforming, folding and bonding operation which also includes lamination of thin thermoplastic layers and polyester non-woven finish onto the core. ThermHex material comes in an unrivalled width of up to 1.400 mm. ThermHex honeycomb core is suitable in many applications for both automated production of sandwich elements and hand lamination.

Sandwich structures using honeycomb core enable significant weight reductions in components. Resultant energy savings can help to lower our carbon footprint and the minimized raw material consumption helps you to build a more sustainable business.

Whether for the manufacture of panels used in trailer bodies, marine panels or modern swimming baths, ThermHex polypropylene honeycomb cores are the versatile choice.

Jochen Pflug, CEO of ThermHex Waben GmbH highlights further advantages for ThermHex users: “The optimized cell size and structure of ThermHex honeycomb core, compared with other material in the market allow exceptional surface quality even with very thin skin material layers. It furthermore helps to secure an excellent bond between core and for example GRP skins.”
